UPDATE

Hi

Can you believe it’s almost September? I hope everyone has enjoyed their summer!

I had the privilege of traveling to Jamaica to share in a friend’s wedding!  We met new friends, celebrated with old ones, and learned a lot about embracing the moment.

Music is a huge part of the culture in Jamaica and the people there don’t just consume it but rather embrace it as part of their life.  It’s part of who they are and artists are celebrated for their individuality.

I returned home with a refreshed perspective as an independent artist and a renewed hope that music is a voice and a vehicle to share more than “hands in the air” or “DJ’s in the club”. Music is the melody of one’s heart and that means sometimes it stands alone.

I have spent the last few years writing songs, producing, and to be honest compromising without even realizing it.  I think that path has brought me to this place in my life writing this blog.

I am so proud to say that I have officially given up the pursuit of music.  And although this may sound like a negative thing I assure you it is very positive.

I remember being young and writing songs because I felt like if I didn’t I would explode. That feeling of being overwhelmed by emotion and finding that perfect marriage of lyric and melody to express your heart’s secrets.  It never mattered if the song was 3:30 or if the hook was catchy.   It just had to be honest and vulnerable.  Somewhere over the years that passion had been eclipsed by the business of music.  A while ago I decided I no longer cared.  If music doesn’t work out then something else will.  If no one likes my stuff, that doesn’t matter.  I feel like writing my songs has to be a personal release and a declaration of my life, heart, faith, and ever growing perspective.

So here we are…

I’m excited to say that I have a bunch of songs that I could not be more proud of!

I am rehearsing a band and getting ready to start playing live again!

And I am working on a video preview for a song I hope to release this fall!

Its been awhile but I am ready to start pursuing my passions again solely for the love of it…
